There are a few movies from the eighties that I really like. These are not necessarily the movies you would think, these are smaller movies, cult movies, movies that you watch and there is something about them that strikes a chord in you.
One of those movies is Real Genius, Val Kilmer, Jon Gries, William Atherton and of course Michelle Meyrink (there was something about her).
And then too there’s Just One of the Guys, another blip but enjoyable for an entirely different reason (crushing on Joyce Hyser was easy. Finally, there was Fright Night with Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and a pre Married With Children Amanda Bearse.
The last movie was remade recently and while it was on my radar, I rarely find myself rushing out to see anything in theaters anymore. But I did recently get it from NetFlix and I have to say I was just blown away – thankfully it’s not a straight remake and where they’ve made changes, they’ve worked well within the story and the cast is a damn good one too (with fave Doctor Who, David Tennant in the Roddy McDowall role).
Anyway, I really enjoyed it and that seems to be rarer and rarer as time goes on, check it out:
